Most Samsung refrigerators on Samsung's current compatibility lists take one of two genuine filters, HAF-CIN or HAF-QIN, and the model's size number doesn't decide it: an RF28H takes one and an RF28T takes the other. Here's how to match yours against Samsung's own lists before you order.
In a hurry: the two genuine filters (full model lists below)
| HAF-QIN: RF28T, RF27T, RS22T and the A, B and C series (RF23A, RF29A, RF24BB, RF30BB, RF27CG, RF32CG…) | Samsung HAF-QIN/EXP genuine |
| HAF-CIN: RF28H, RF28J, RF28K, RF28N, RF23H, RF23J, RF22K, RF22M, RF24F, RF25H, RF26H, RF26J | Samsung HAF-CIN/EXP genuine |
"RF28" doesn't tell you the filter. On Samsung's lists, RF28HFEDBSR, RF28HDEDBSR, RF28HMEDBSR, RF28JBEDBSG, RF28K9070SR, RF28K9580SR and RF28NHEDBSR take HAF-CIN, while RF28T5101SR and RF28T5021SR take HAF-QIN.
The quick tell is the letter right after the size number. In Samsung's two lists, every HAF-CIN model has H, J, K, M, N or F there (RF28H…, RF22M…), and every HAF-QIN model has T, A, B or C (RF28T…, RF29A…, RF30BB…, RF27CG…). The older RF261, RF263 and RF265 BEAE French-door models are on the HAF-CIN list too. If your model breaks the pattern, trust the list or the old cartridge.

Get it: Samsung HAF-QIN/EXP genuine
Samsung's lists include a market suffix after the model (/AA, /AC, AA). Match the full model on your label where you can. Lists as published on Samsung's filter pages, checked 2026-09-12.
Both genuine Samsung cartridges list NSF 42 and NSF 53 certification, and Samsung's HAF-CIN page spells out the NSF 53 reductions, including lead, cysts and mercury. Compatible cartridges cost less. If you buy one, check that the specific listing shows real certification marks for those standards, not just "meets NSF standards" wording.
Samsung rates both filters at 6 months or 300 gallons. Write the install date on the cartridge, then run water through the dispenser per your manual to clear air and carbon fines. The whole-home filter schedule keeps it with your other filter countdowns.
Yes. Samsung's HAF-CIN/EXP page lists DA29-00020B as the replacement cartridge code, so they're the same part.
Yes. Samsung's HAF-QIN page shows all three names for the same filter.
Samsung lists the two filters for different models, and no model appears on both lists. Buy the one your model is listed under.
Every 6 months or 300 gallons, whichever comes first, for both HAF-CIN and HAF-QIN.
